AXIS Companion an end-to-end surveillance small business solution
Your typical business owner has a million and one things on their mind at any given moment. Small business owners with one or more company sites have the responsibility of running a profitable enterprise at multiple locations. If you’re an owner of a business you’ve no doubt considered getting a video surveillance system for your company, and for good reason. A video surveillance system can ensure the safety of your employees, customers and premises. Simply put, installing a few surveillance cameras can yield a high return on investment for your small business. But at what cost?
AXIS Communications has come up with a professional video surveillance solution that includes hardware and software designed to meet the requirements of small businesses. And, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! “We have seen that smaller businesses are often hesitant to adopt network security solutions due to price and maintenance concerns, and perceived complexity of operation,” Gilles Ortega, Director of Small Business said in a press release. “We have responded with a competitive offering of cameras, storage, software and other key components that remove those barriers. It’s literally an out-of-the-box solution based on the same quality and reliability customers worldwide have come to trust from Axis.” The AXIS Companion Line offers an end-to-end solution with affordable cameras, recorders, software and accessories that is both scalable and cost-effective.
Offering different advantages, AXIS Companion cameras come in four distinct forms: Dome, Cube, Bullet and Eye. Depending on the views that are necessary, you may want to consider using different cameras to get the most out of your system. Fortunately, AXIS has a tool to help you select the right cameras, storage option and accessories and can be accessed here.
While the types of cameras available through the AXIS Companion Line vary, there are a few features that are common to all. Those common features include: HDTV 1080p or 2 MP resolution, WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) for handling complex lighting, PoE (Power over Ethernet) for connectivity and electrical power, microSDXC card support for storage, and Axis Zipstream Technology for bandwidth and storage savings. Additionally, all hardware is backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
Storage options for the AXIS Companion Line are quite versatile. The AXIS Companion Recorder is a network video recorder that comes as an 8-channel or 4-channel model. It comes equipped with a built-in PoE switch for powering cameras, so no additional cables are required, and video is stored on a surveillance-grade HDD designed for fan-less cooling and is thus less susceptible to mechanical failure. The 8-channel recorder comes with the choice of either 2 TB or 4 TB storage. A future-proof solution, AXIS Companion can seamlessly employ 16 cameras per location that can be added to going forward, i.e. scalable. Additionally, AXIS Companion cameras also come with a micro SD card slot, which can be used as a cost-efficient recording solution in scenarios where fewer cameras and shorter retention time is needed. For greater amounts of footage, cloud-based storage is also an option.
Also designed for small businesses is the AXIS Companion software, which is only compatible with AXIS Companion network cameras. Optimized for basic surveillance needs, it is available for download at no cost, as is the AXIS Companion app for your smartphone or tablet. This removes the need for a PC and allows users to securely access video footage and manage the cameras remotely.
